sometimes it's better to attack a unit face to face so as not to leave your unit's flank wide open. but you bring up another good point about how attacking automatically changes the facing of your unit which can leave it vulnerable to the opponent's flank attacks. Sure, i'm referring to when units aren't attacking. Manually changing the facing of units only has an effect on combat in a very limited number of situations. this makes it more difficult to flank the back of your army, and for phase & backstab units to do their thing.īut you can only do that when you don't use the archers to attack which means that they end up in guard mode at the end of the turn so that it doesn't even matter which way they are facing.
